Omniverse Integration & Tutorials

Omniverse RTX Render of a VUE scene by Frederic Bec

Why Omniverse?

Whether you work collaboratively or as a single artist, Omniverse has a lot to offer.

As a collaboration platform, you layout your environments in VUE while your other teammates work on character animations in Maya, create buildings and props in 3DS Max or Blender while another teammate edits vegetation assets in PlantFactory. All this is streamed directly as USD to Omniverse Nucleus and rendered in real-time in the RTX viewer.

As a standalone artist, you can push your VUE environments directly to Omniverse (Omniverse Create, for instance), and get instant high fidelity visual feedback on your scene layout and composition. You can even use the RTX render engine for fast high quality renders.

Enrich your USD stages with botanically accurate vegetation models from PlantCatalog, add wind and breeze, make your vegetation grow or change health and season and so much more.

How Our Products Integrate with Omniverse

Starting in versions 2021.2, all e-on applications, i.e. VUE*, PlantFactory* and PlantCatalog Exporter, include a native connector to Omniverse. This connector allows a unidirectional live sync of your scene or asset edits directly to Omniverse.

On top of this, both PlantFactory and PlantCatalog Exporter offer an Omniverse Extension (i.e. a plugin for Omniverse Kit-based apps), that allows sending back the vegetation USD model data from Omniverse to PlantFactory or PlantCatalog Exporter.

*VUE and PlantFactory Professional or Enterprise.

If you already own PlantFactory or PlantCatalog Exporter, you can download the most recent version of their respective Omniverse extension directly from your user account page, in the software center.

To install the extensions in Omniverse Create (or any kit-based application that supports the extension manager):

  • Open the application, go to the 'Window | Extensions' menu.

  • In the Extension browser, click on the hamburger icon (the three vertical lines next to the search fields), and select 'Import Extension'.

  • Browse to the folder where you save the zipped extension you have downloded from the software center, select the extension you want to add, and click 'Import'.

In the Omniverse Extension browser (Window | Extensions menu entry), search for PlantFactory (resp. PlantCatalog) and toggle 'Enable' and 'Autoload'.

Note: The current extensions will work with both a commercial or Trial version of PlantFactory, and with the Commercial version of PlantCatalog Exporter (a Trial version will be released shortly).
