Adansonia digitata, the African baobab, is the unique genus of baobab on continental Africa. All other species originate from Madagascar except for one in Australia. Baobabs grow mainly in savannah as isolated trees, immediately composing for dramatic landscapes. All baobab trees are deciduous, losing their leaves in the dry season. In nature, they will grow up to between 5 to 25 meters tall and their trunk can reach a diameter of 10 to 14 meters.
