Tamarix gallica, the French tamarisk grows as a big bush or as a small tree up to 5 meters high. It originates from the Mediterranean basin in Europe and North Africa. The tamarisk gallica is perfectly adapted to very dry and salty conditions and is commonly found on dunes along see shores where it can grow in the form of crawling bushes. If cultivated the tamarisk can be grown as an elegant little tree and is appreciated for its wispy blooms.
