Strelitzia juncea, the rush-leave bird of paradise is a very strange plant of 2 meters in height native from South Africa. Similar to its cousin Strelitzia reginaea, it features incredibly weird flowers looking like a bird’s head but it differentiates itself from that species thanks to its narrow cylindrical leaf stalks reminiscent of the common rush.
