Adansonia digitata, the African baobab, is the unique genus of baobab in continental Africa. Except for one in Australia, all other species originate from Madagascar . Baobabs grow mainly in savannah as isolated trees, immediately composing dramatic landscapes. All baobab trees are deciduous and lose their leaves in the dry season. In nature, they will grow between 5 to 25 meters in height and their trunk can reach a diameter of 10 to 14 meters.
