Rhapis exelsa, the bamboo palm, is considered to originate from Southern China and Taiwan, even though it was never found in the wild. It is a short and slim palm of 4 meters in height which grows in dense groups like bamboos, hence its name. Because Rhapis excelsa mostly grows in shaded areas, it is therefore both a great indoor plant and a good choice for small gardens in tropical and subtropical climates.
