Canna x generalis orange, the generic canna lily, is native to South America and grows up to 1.2 meter in height. Despite its tropical origin, the canna lily roots are hardy to frost. Canna lilies are therefore widely used by garden ad landscape designers in warm climate areas. In the wild, the canna lily grows on humid soil and can frequently be found in swamps or along rivers.
