Picea pungens, the Colorado Blue Spruce is small spruce emblematic of the Rocky Mountains where it grows usually mixed with other coniferous species up to a height of 25 meters. Due to the beauty of its blue juvenile foliage it is one of the most popular coniferous in gardens and public spaces. The blue tint of the Colorado Blue Spruce needles varies depending on weather conditions, from a saturated blue to light green and sometimes almost white.
