Thypha latifolia, the common cattail can grow up to 3 meters in height and, along with the common reed, is one of the most emblematic plants in the aquatic environment on the planet. Indeed, the common cattail is also present on all continents and in almost all climates except the hottest. It is not found in brackish water either because it cannot withstand salt. Like Phragmites australis, it is an essential agent in the purification and oxygenation of aquatic environments.
