Plumeria rubra pink, the pink flowered frangipani tree, originates from South and Central America. Frangipanis are small trees that can grow up to 10 meters of height in the wild. The tree is predominantly found in tropical or subtropical climates. It is a very scenic species for its regular branch architecture and its magnificent and strongly fragrant flowers. Its aesthetic qualities and its remarkable resistance to drought and non-fertile soil make Plumeria rubra one of the most cultivated and popular small trees worldwide. In some areas of Asia, Middle East, Pacific and Africa, frangipanis are considered as native plants and they can be found in the wild, even though they were brough there initially by humans, for instance in Hawaii where it became a local symbol.
