Frangipani tree

Frangipani tree
(Plumeria rubra pink)

from Central America, pink flowers

Plumeria rubra pink, the pink flowered frangipani tree, originates from South and Central America. Frangipanis are small trees that can reach up to 10 meters high in the wild. It is predominantly found in tropical or subtropical climates. It is a very scenic species for its regular branch architecture and its magnificent and strongly fragrant flowers. Its esthetic qualities and its remarkable resistance to drought and bad soil, make of Plumeria rubra one of the most cultivated and popular small tree worldwide (anywhere it does not freeze). In some areas of Asia, Middle East, Pacific and Africa, frangipanis are considered as native and can be found in the wild even though they were brough there initially by humans, for instance in Hawaii where it became a local symbol.
