Echinocactus grusonii, the golden barral cactus, is native to the Mexican desert, but is also cultivated all over the world. It grows into a perfect spherical cactus ball of approx. 60cm in diameter, completely covered by golden needles. Together with the Saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) and the Barbary fig (Opuntia ficus-indica), the barrel cactus is probably one of the most famous cacti in the world.
