Yucca brevifolia, the Joshua tree, together with the Saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea), is the most symbolic species of United States deserts and can be found in California, Utah and Arizona. Starting its growth as a single trunk, it then ramifies into several smaller branches which grow in all directions. The Yucca brevifolia’s leaves are as rigid as a sword and will remain attached to the trunk for a very long time even once they dried out.
