Pinus contorta var latifolia forest is a Rocky Mountain Lodgepole pine procedural model, designed to represent the shape of tree specimens which have grown next to other trees in forestry environments (i.e., obstructed by other trees, with needles growing only higher part, to catch the sunlight). The Lodgepole pine, found in the NW of America and Canada, grows between 450-3500 meters altitude. A medium-sized, columnar, and slim pine, it reaches a mature height of 30 meters, with rare specimens growing up to 45 meters. Pinus contorta var latifolia's fast growth and tolerance of poor soil make it an ideal species for timber production.
