Festuca gautieri, the spiky fescue, originates from a small part of the Pyrenean mountains (France and Spain). It can be found at higher altitudes and it grows as green pillow shaped clusters of up to 50 cm across all dimensions. Despite its restricted geographic origin, the spiky fescue is one of the most often used green ornamental grasses for landscaping.
