Quercus palustris, the swamp oak, is native to the eastern United States and Canada where it remains the dominant oak species next to the Eastern red oak species (Quercus rubra). It is a fast-growing but medium-sized oak (25 m) whose flamboyant red coloring in autumn makes it very popular in public spaces in temperate environments.
