Salix babylonica, the weeping willow, is a large willow native to China that can grow up to 30 meters tall, but usually smaller in cultivation. The weeping willow is particularly appreciated as an ornamental tree for its inimitable drooping habit which makes it essential in landscaped shorelines. As it is also quite dry hardy it is not uncommon for Salix babylonica to also be used as isolated plants in parks and gardens
