Salix babylonica, the weeping willow, is a large willow native to China which can grow up to 30 meters in height, but usually remains smaller through cultivation. The weeping willow is particularly appreciated as an ornamental tree for its inimitable drooping habit which makes it essential in landscaped shorelines. As it is also quite drought hardy, it is not uncommon for Salix babylonica to also be used as isolated plants in parks and gardens.
