Erica carnea dark pink, is the closest model to the typical spring heath species, a common shrub on alpine moors up to 2700 m on both acid and limestone soils. The flowers are deep pink and the leaves dark green. The various published parameters allow all the shapes of the typical species to be created, as well as a wide range of cultivars from 10 to 30 cm tall, either spreading or upright, such as 'Challenger', 'Lohse's Rubin', 'Myretoun Ruby', 'Rubinteppich', 'Rubly Glow', or 'Winter Rubin'.
