Taxodium distichum urban is a bald cypress specially designed for cultivated specimens in urban landscapes, so without Spanish moss. The bald cypress is indigenous to Southeastern America, where it thrives primarily along riverbanks and in swampy areas, effectively creating freshwater environments reminiscent of mangroves. This tree typically reaches an average height of up to 40 meters and is distinguished by its tall and stout root collar, which bears a resemblance to a bottleneck. To facilitate underwater respiration for its roots, the Taxodium distichum, or bald cypress, is known for developing vertical aerial roots—a characteristic it shares with certain other mangrove trees, such as those within the Avicenia genus. Despite its native status in the USA, the bald cypress has gained popularity worldwide, especially in Europe, where it enhances the beauty of artificial lakes and ponds in landscaping projects.
